Latest Roblox Lawsuit Updates

In December 2025, dozens of Roblox child exploitation lawsuits were grouped together in federal court in what is known as multidistrict litigation (MDL).

This is a step often taken when many similar lawsuits are filed, allowing them to move through the legal process in a coordinated manner. This can lead to faster and more uniform results for those who have filed lawsuits.

As of January 2026, there were 85 Roblox cases grouped together in the MDL.

Why Are People Filing Lawsuits Against Roblox?

Families and guardians are filing lawsuits over claims that children who used Roblox were sexually exploited or assaulted by predators who used the platform to get into contact with the minors.

With an audience that includes tens of millions of children, the popular game lets players create and play a wide range of games. It also serves as a communication platform with direct messaging and voice chat capabilities.

In a 2025 quarterly report, Roblox announced that the platform had more than 150 million daily active users.

Some lawsuits claim that predators would initiate contact with children through Roblox, often posing as minors themselves, before convincing victims to continue communication outside of the platform through texting, Instagram or Snapchat.

“Roblox provides predators with easy access to tens of millions of children and allows these predators to freely move between inappropriate content and popular games to identify and target vulnerable young users,” some lawsuit filings claim.

Allegations Roblox Didn’t Do Enough to Promote Child Safety

Many of the Roblox lawsuits center on claims that the company prioritized growth and profits over protecting its users.

Some lawsuits cite a former Roblox employee as saying, “You have to make a decision, right? You can keep your players safe, but then it would be less of them on the platform. Or you just let them do what they want to do. And then the numbers all look good and investors will be happy.”

People who have filed cases argue that Roblox refused to promote child safety by investing in security features, making it too easy for predators to access the platform and get into contact with minors.

Roblox has a simple signup process: The only steps needed to create an account are entering a username and password and inputting a birthday. Lawsuits argue that this format makes it easy for adults to access Roblox while lying about their age and posing as someone younger.

In recent years, the company has begun to add more safety features. Several new functions were implemented in 2024, including a dashboard that allows parents to monitor their children’s activity. Restrictions were also placed on direct messaging for children under 13.

In early 2026, Roblox also launched a new facial age verification feature. This new tool requires users to scan their face before chatting with others to verify their age.

“As the first large online gaming platform to require facial age checks for users of all ages to access chat, this implementation is our next step toward what we believe will be the gold standard for communication safety,” the company said in a release at the time.

Harms and Injuries Alleged in Roblox Lawsuits

Lawsuits argue that Roblox “knowingly causes and facilitates the sexual exploitation of children.” This includes claims that the company deprioritized implementing safety measures in order to keep accelerating growth.

The injuries and alleged harms range from sexual exploitation to assault. Many cases involve claims that predators posing as children solicited explicit images or videos from young users they met through Roblox.

Roblox lawsuits are generally filed by people who say they were exploited or assaulted as minors or by the parents of minors. They claim that Roblox failed to warn them or their children of these potential risks.

Injuries Listed in Roblox Lawsuits
  • Psychological trauma
  • Emotional distress
  • Mental anguish

“Plaintiff’s experiences have led to a loss of trust, safety, and personal security, depriving her of the opportunity for a normal and healthy development,” one lawsuit filed on behalf of a minor states. “The injuries she sustained are severe, ongoing, and permanent, affecting her daily life and emotional health in lasting and immeasurable ways.”

Government Actions and Investigations Involving Roblox

In the wake of these claims, government investigations and lawsuits have been launched involving Roblox, its content and the platform’s safety.

In December 2025, the South Carolina Attorney General announced an investigation into Roblox over its parental safety features and the prevalence of sexualized content on the platform.

“Roblox markets itself as the #1 gaming site for kids and teens,” Attorney General Alan Wilson said in a statement. “But ensuring the safety of our children online is a top priority for me, and if Roblox is deceiving parents on their safety protocols, they deserve to be held accountable.”

Other states have gone as far as filing lawsuits against Roblox, including Florida, Texas, Iowa and Tennessee.

“We cannot allow platforms like Roblox to continue operating as digital playgrounds for predators where the well-being of our kids is sacrificed on the altar of corporate greed,” Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a statement when Texas filed its lawsuits. “Roblox must do more to protect kids from sick and twisted freaks hiding behind a screen. Any corporation that enables child abuse will face the full and unrelenting force of the law.”

Other Types of Roblox Lawsuits

In addition to child exploitation claims and government lawsuits, Roblox is involved in other active litigations as well.

The platform has also been named among video game addiction lawsuits. These cases claim that some games are designed to create intentionally addictive habits in their young users. Other video games listed in these lawsuits include Fortnite, Minecraft and Call of Duty.

Addiction-based lawsuits involving tech products and the internet have become increasingly common in recent years. Thousands of separate social media addiction lawsuits are also active against companies like Meta and TikTok.

Roblox is also involved in gambling lawsuits. Those cases involve the use of Roblox’s digital currency, called Robux, to gamble. They allege that online casinos will exchange Robux for dollars, and that children have lost significant sums of money gambling without their parents’ knowledge or consent.
