Connecticut Launches Investigation Into Roblox, Claims Website Built ‘Pedophile Playground’

Connecticut has joined the rapidly expanding list of states taking action against Roblox over child predator concerns on the platform.
Attorney General William Tong announced on Tuesday that the state launched an investigation into the popular gaming platform.
“Roblox built an online pedophile playground,” he said in a statement. “Our investigation seeks to uncover exactly what the company knew about widespread child exploitation on its platform, how they have profited, and what they have or have not done to protect our kids online.”
Connecticut is seeking records related to Roblox’s safety systems and parental controls, as well as information on the ages of Connecticut users and the income they generate for Roblox.
The platform is incredibly popular, with hundreds of millions of regular users. But Roblox has faced growing scrutiny in recent months, both from states and individual families, over whether it failed to protect young users from predators.
On top of the Connecticut investigation, other states have gone on to file lawsuits against Roblox.
Earlier this month, Oklahoma became the latest state to sue Roblox, claiming that the company has “turned a blind eye” to predators on its platform.
What the Roblox Lawsuits Claim
Nearly 150 Roblox lawsuits have also been filed in federal court by families and individuals who argue that the platform prioritized profits over safety, failing to implement features that could have kept users safe.
These cases claim that child predators use Roblox to get in contact with and groom minors before soliciting sexually explicit images or organizing real-life meetings.
In December 2025, a multidistrict litigation (MDL) was established for these lawsuits. This is a common legal procedure used when many largely similar lawsuits are expected to be filed. MDLs consolidate all those cases before a single judge for coordinated proceedings.
This allows those cases to move through the legal process together, which can lead to faster and more efficient outcomes.
More Roblox lawsuits are expected to be filed in the coming months as the litigation grows.
