Los Angeles County has become the latest government body to take legal action against Roblox. In a new lawsuit announced on Friday, the county claims that the popular gaming platform exposed children to sexually explicit content while also enabling exploitation and grooming.
“This lawsuit is about protecting children from online predators and inappropriate content,” Los Angeles County Board Chair and First District Supervisor Hilda L. Solis said in a statement. “Roblox has a responsibility to keep kids safe, but instead it has allowed its platform to become a place where children can be exposed to grooming and exploitation.”
This news comes as other governments have filed Roblox lawsuits or taken investigatory action against the platform in recent years over these claims.
In November 2025, the state of Texas sued Roblox over similar claims, arguing that the company ignored online safety laws while creating a “breeding ground” for predators.
Other states like Florida, Iowa and Tennessee have also filed similar lawsuits.
More than 100 Roblox Exploitation Lawsuits Now Active in Federal Court
In addition to government lawsuits, families and individuals are also taking legal action against Roblox over claims that the platform didn’t do enough to protect children from predators.
Roblox is wildly popular, with hundreds of millions of monthly active users. More than 40% of that audience is children under 13.
People who have filed these lawsuits claim that predators took advantage of lax safety features to establish contact with minors via Roblox before then convincing them to move to other communication platforms like Discord or Snapchat.
The lawsuits argue that children were then exploited or even assaulted by these predators.
As of February 2026, 115 Roblox lawsuits have been consolidated into a multidistrict litigation (MDL). This is where many similar lawsuits are placed before a single judge for coordinated legal proceedings.
MDLs can lead to faster and more streamlined results for people who have filed lawsuits. The MDL was first formed in December 2025. The litigation is expected to grow as it progresses in the coming months.
