Nebraska has joined a growing list of states accusing Roblox of failing to protect children from exploitation.

The Nebraska Attorney General announced a lawsuit against the popular gaming platform on Wednesday. In a statement, Attorney General Hilgers said that Roblox has created “a playground for predators” while also exposing children to graphic content.

In the lawsuit, the state argues that Roblox has falsely told parents that its platform is safe for children. Florida, Iowa, Tennessee and Texas have filed similar lawsuits against the company. Los Angeles also filed a lawsuit against Roblox last month.

In addition to state cases, more than 100 individuals have filed Roblox lawsuits claiming that the platform facilitated child sexual abuse, assault and exploitation. Those cases have been grouped together before one judge in federal court for coordinated proceedings.

Online platforms have a responsibility to protect children. If your child was harmed after connecting with an adult on Roblox, you may be able to take legal action.

Nebraska Lawsuit Claims Roblox Misled Parents About Platform’s Potential Dangers

In the newly filed lawsuit, Nebraska claims that Roblox refused to take basic precautions that could have kept millions of children who use the platform safe.

“For years, Roblox has known that it has a pedophile problem,” the lawsuit states. “It built an extremely popular interactive gaming and social media platform by doing what other social media companies would not: marketing to and accepting pre-teenage users.”

The lawsuit claims that, in addition to failing to address these concerns, Roblox also misrepresented its content moderation and safety practices. It argues that safety changes were only made to the platform after lawsuits began to emerge.

Roblox has tens of millions of daily users. In 2023, more than 40% of those users were under the age of 13.

More than 100 Lawsuits Claim Roblox Failed to Protect Users

In December, dozens of Roblox lawsuits were consolidated in federal court into multidistrict litigation (MDL).

This step is usually taken when many lawsuits based on similar claims are filed. It allows them to move through the legal process together in a coordinated fashion. This can lead to faster, more streamlined results.

Since the start of 2026, the Roblox MDL has grown by more than 40 cases. There are now at least 132 lawsuits grouped together.

The litigation is still in the very early stages. Trials or settlement talks are not expected for some time.
